Question:

What does "this is my season" mean?

A "season" can be understood as follows:

First, think of the seasons of the year: spring, summer, fall, and winter. When we are at the beginning of September, then we say that we are approaching the fall season. When we are into mid-November we say that we are in the Thanksgiving season, because Thanksgiving is celebrated near the end of November.

So you can think of the term "season" for any specific period of time that comes into your life. There can be a season of illness, or of hardship, or of poverty, or of great joy such as courtship and marriage, or of promotion, or success on some project, or of financial prosperity.

Everyone has "seasons" in his or her life. And the length of time has no boundaries for those kinds of seasons. So when a good opportunity comes, if you make a good decision it can give you a "season" (a period of time) that is very beneficial to you that just might last a long time.

Some "seasons" of life come as a result of obeying God. When you flow in the love, kindness, goodness, and self-control that the Lord provides for a person who is in relationship with Him, then He rewards you with good "seasons" in your life. It is part of the spiritual law of "sowing and reaping." If you plant your seeds of love and goodness and kindness toward others and toward God, then--as Jesus said--whatever you give will be given back to you, pressed down and shaken together and running over. God will cause benefits to come your way.

When you hear the phrase "this is my season", it is referring to a period of time that you are enjoying or in which you are successful or prosperous. It is referring to one of the good "seasons" of life that come your way.
