Are some people tempted more than others?
Regarding your questions: "Do you think some people are tempted more than others? And when we have sinful thoughts, is it just my hormones, or is it the devil?"
It is important to understand that every person born is different. Regarding temptation, some are born more passive than others, but that is more a matter of physical and psychological predispositions. I may not be tempted in one area, but may suffer strong temptations in other areas. Everyone is different. The Fall of Adam and Eve opened the door to that problem, and every person born has a sinful nature that is some cases is more sinful than others, and which varies from person to person. It may be lust, greed, a weakness toward addictions, a mean attitude, negativism, envy, jealousy, gossip, love of power and control over others (including the use of witchcraft), and on and on.
Regarding the source, it varies. But all three factors—physical cravings, psychological dispositions, and demonic spiritual influences play a part in everyday life. It is important that regardless of the source, one must continuously "submit to God and resist the devil" (James 4:7). That is where the victory lies.
