My Father
Some people have good memories of their father. One man who did not have much time with his Dad was able to spend a whole day fishing with him. He wrote in his diary that is was the best day of his entire life.
Paul quoted Genesis 2:24 and wrote the following regarding the family:
“For this cause a man shall leave his father and mother and shall be joined to his wife, and the two of them shall be one flesh." This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church. (Ephesians 5:31,32)
What God is saying is that the Husband represents Christ in the marriage, and the wife represents the church. This principle, of course, extends to the children, and repeats with every generation: the commandment says to honor your father and mother. So when you honor your father, you honor Christ.
Go ahead. Apply the Word of God regarding fathers to your family. Make him the head. Don’t reject him or rebel against him. He represents Christ in the home. When He is neglected, it is as though you were neglecting Christ. Remember, God Himself created and structured the family. Your father is very important. Remember him and bless him all his life.
